It's finally finished.
I hope you enjoy it, if anything is unclear, please feel free to leave a comment, I will try to elaborate. I'm prettysure everything is clear, but I made the hat, so it might not be clear to everyone.

Here's mine!

Part One

Edit: The reason I have not put what the seam allowance values, is simply because the fabric has to fit snugly against the cardboard base. I don't want to put a set amount, and have wrinkly hats out there. Thicker fabrics will fit differently than thing ones. So, if you make the hat, sew it to make it as snug as possible to the base, and then cut off the surplus, leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance.

**If you use this tutorial to make your own hat, please have the courtesy of putting a link back to my tutorial, and leave a comment here with a link to your deviation so that I can see your masterpiece!!

Thank so much! This is very enlightening. I am planning on making a top-hat as a b-day present for a friend and now I get an idea how to do that :)

I have a quick question for you: when you say sew some elastic on 'either side of the inside' how exactly do you mean? I get that it helps hold your top-hat on somehow, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how.

Help would be very much appreciated at your earliest convenience. (:

You cut a piece of elastic long enough to fit around your noggin (usually under your nape) and glue each end to the inside of the hat where it will hold it to your head. It's best to put the hat on the way you want to wear it, and then figure out the elastic placement.
